Piyush Gupta led DBS Group as chief executive officer and a director from 2009, during the years in which Southeast Asia's largest bank became known as the world's best digital bank, named so by Euromoney, with assets of around USD 553 billion and more than 12 million customers in 19 markets. Before DBS he spent 27 years at Citigroup, ending as CEO for Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He chairs the board of trustees of Singapore Management University and the board of Mandai Park Holdings, and is vice chairman of the Institute of International Finance. An economics graduate of St Stephen's College with a postgraduate diploma from IIM Ahmedabad, he received Singapore's Public Service Star in 2020 and India's Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in 2023, and Harvard Business Review named him among the world's 100 best-performing CEOs.
